Appearance:
There are barely any features that Gypsy has that define her as a “Gibbous Moon” wolf. The main identifiers are the dark black and gray stripe that runs down her muzzle, some subtle brown and red markings along the edges of her face and paws, and her slightly shorter legs (She is 32 inches in length). Otherwise, most see her as a Full Moon wolf. For what few inches she may lack in height, she makes up for in weight (106 lbs,) and length (64 inches.) Gypsy’s eyes are a very dark brown, and at night they almost look black, giving her a somewhat sinister look. As for fur patterns, Gypsy’s fur is mostly a charcoal color, but her legs, undercoat and cheeks have a lighter, silvery look to them. Gypsy’s silver legs are thick, and her paws are large and powerful. She can use them to batter an enemy across the muzzle, which can cause massive damage. Her lower jaw is solid, and her whole face has strong bone structure; her blunt muzzle is no exception. Gypsy’s ears are dark, but there are lighter marks near the edges that indicate scarring from fights with other wolves. Fights that she usually won. Her left ear has an especially noticeable area where she is missing a small chunk of skin near the tip.
Skills:
Good Stamina: Gypsy is a wolf that you’d want on a long hunt or when tracking down a fugitive. Her body is tough, and built to survive most weather and wear and tear. Her legs are practically unbreakable.
Tracking: Part of the reason Gypsy ranks high in her pack is because of her highly developed senses. She can follow a scent or a sound for miles, even if the trace left behind to follow is miniscule. Her nose is so developed that she can usually tell apart individual wolves just by their scent.
Strong: Nobody wants to battle Gypsy, even if it’s just practice. She takes what she does very seriously.
Personality:
Intimidating: Gypsy can’t help it, but many wolves (including her pack-mates,) have a good amount of fear of her. Sure, her size and strength is one thing, but her dark coat and gaze are enough to scare a lot of wolves. Her rank with the Twin Oaks pack has earned her a good amount of respect, but respect is not a good replacement for a solid friendship with another wolf. Gypsy has had a few opportunities to begin a courtship process with a Twin Oak wolf, but she has often blown these opportunities for being too “scary”.
Quiet: Her quiet demeanor adds to her “intimidating” persona; Gypsy isn’t the first wolf someone would think of to have a casual conversation with. Gypsy, when confronted with a social situation, kind of just sits back and listens rather than adding her own two cents to a conversation. Often, she can’t think of anything to say or would just rather listen instead of talk.
A Little Bit Twisted: With all of the time Gypsy has spent alone, she has come to develop a kind of sick sense of humor. She will terrorize prey that she has caught when no one else is looking, as well as intruders on pack territory.
Helpful: She may not be identified as very “social”, but Gypsy is one of the first to volunteer when work needs to be done. Mostly because she wants to help out her pack, but partly because she wants her pack members to trust her or appreciate her a little bit more.
Loyal: Gypsy was taught at a young age that the Twin Oaks pack was a inner part of her as well, and that she should do absolutely anything she could to help it triumph over the other wolf packs. She would take a bullet for anyone in the Twin Oaks pack, although others might not be as ready to take that step as she is.
History:
Gypsy was born to a proud pair of wolves from the Twin Oaks pack. She was a small, scrawny little thing. A few days after she was born, her parents awoke to find her crying in the middle of the night. Three gypsy moths were crawling all over her. Her parents shooed the moths away, but since that night Gypsy has never slept soundly. After her third week of existence, Gypsy received her cub name, Novella. Novella was the lunar name of her great grandmother, who was known for her fearsome skills on the battlefield. Gypsy’s father had suggested the name, though her mother had wanted to name her something with a little bit more a natural tone to it. Turns out that the name suited her perfectly, because she’d always ask her father to tell her stories about her great grandmother.
For the first few months, Gypsy could be found practicing skills she’d heard about, mostly from her father. He encouraged this behavior, although her mother worried that it would make her even more restless. Sure enough, some nights they had trouble even finding Gypsy; she would wander out into the woods to gnaw on trees, claiming that she was ‘sharpening them.’ Gypsy’s mother worried that her behavior was becoming obsessive, though Gypsy’s father tried to re-assure her constantly that she was just curious and trying to learn. It wasn’t until around her first birthday that even her father started to worry. Some nights, she wouldn’t sleep at all. She’d just sit outside the family’s den and watch the stars, taking in the scents of the night. There was even a period of time where she went missing for several days at once.
The most memorable of these times was when she went missing for a week. Her father had no clue where to begin searching for her, and probably wouldn’t have found her if he hadn’t found a trail of fur tufts leading to a small hole in the ground. He found his daughter covered in filthy mud, and too sick to move. Gypsy had to spend a month in the apothecary’s den. Shortly after her time with the apothecary, Gypsy picked her lunar name, though it took awhile for her to get used to it. However, her vivid memories of the gypsy moths slowly helped her get accustomed to the new name. After another year or two, Gypsy took on a couple of apprentices, who later grew up to be strong and supportive members of the pack. Other wolves took notice of this, and many wanted to learn more about this mysterious yet powerful she-wolf. Gypsy failed to stand out socially, though her physical attributes and achievements were enough to keep her name popular. In fact, the higher ranking wolves of the pack took notice of her skill, and decided to make her an authority on fighting. Her main purpose currently with the Twin Oaks is to give advice on battle and hunting techniques, and sometimes give the occasional demonstration.
However, more than anything, she just wants to become a “normal” member of the pack, though she has no idea how. For now, she is comfortable with being simply “respected” by others.
Other:
Not really… maybe she’d have better luck making friends in other packs? XD
